Bevy Bites: Square Meals on Round Wheels

We have been putting a plan together to make and deliver the community lunches locally. We intend to run a small pilot to test some menus and how the ordering, payment and delivery will work. We have been talking to a company that provides an ordering and payment process and will be meeting with them very soon to test the system. This system should also make it easier to order and collect lunches from The Bevy. We have also been talking to a Zero Emissions courier service to see if we can keep the pub’s carbon footprint as low as we can. By the end of February we hope to have learnt enough to extend this service to more drop off points.

Ready Meals

We are also working on how we can make meals to take home from the Bevy. Our focus at first will be to make meals for those that don’t find it easy to cook at home for themselves. We will work with Friday Friends and Bridge the Gap 50+ to test this out and hopefully move on to make the meals available to more people locally.

Slow Cooker Kit Project

Thanks to some focussed funding donated by our local councillors, we will be able to carry out a pilot project this Spring. This will involve working with local families and individuals to provide them with a slow cooker and weekly meal kits to see if this way of buying ingredients and cooking them makes a difference to their busy lives and tight food budgets. Again if we can work out how to make this a sustainable process then we will extend this beyond the pilot.
