There are not many other places in the country where you can meet monks and punks on the same day. That is a pretty standard Saturday at the Bevy though!
On the 27th of November we had a wonderfully busy day at the Bevy. We started off with the Bevendean Down ParkRun coming for their traditional post run breakfast. We were also starting off our Community Market with so many local sellers with everything from home made samosas to Sussex veg and beautiful home crafted hobby horses.
It was at the Market that we were able to meet Brother Anthony and Friar Aidan from Worth Abbey, who are looking at supporting local projects with the pub and other grassroots groups. They enjoyed their breakfast as we discussed what they have been doing already with groups such as the food bank operating out ST John the Baptist in Kemptown. We are very excited about working with them!
There was a great turnout for breakfasts and lunches especially from those who were heading off to the Amex on the free Bevy Bus. We’ve never seen so many people at the pub before and afterwards, including some very friendly Leeds fans.
In the Evening it was time for Saturday Night Live, which kicked off with a DJ from 6.30 and then OLD CHASE headlining with their raucous skate punk.
Sunday the 28th was obviously not a day of rest with Marco’s delicious roasts to enjoy. We are now gearing up for our Christmas Market on 18th December with an appearance from the Swing Choir and our free children’s party afterwards. and keep an eye out our December Saturday Night Lives including the triumphant return of Tidal Rave for New Years Eve!
There is so much happening at this time of year that it sometimes difficult to take stock, but we are so proud that the Bevy caters for so many different groups. If you have any ideas of how else we can help our community then please do get in touch! email@example.com
