During the initial 8-week lockdown between April and June this year, members of The Bevy team took part in a research project to capture the experience as we dealt with the emotional and practical challenges of lockdown and then looked towards reopening.
The research was instigated by The Bevy team, then The Bevy and research collaborative Self/Other approached Power to Change to fund the research. Power to Change is an organisation supporting community businesses across England.
The research was designed and delivered by Self/Other – a collaboration between anthropologist Simon Newitt, ethnographic photographer Curtis James and graphic designer Emily Macaulay. A report of the findings was written by Sophie Reid, a Power to Change Research Associate.
We hope this report is a useful tool for other community businesses.
