During Lockdown this year local costume charity Gladrags started a project encouraging local people to make a community bunting resource. This Saturday they hired The Bevy and invited volunteers along to sew the bunting together.
Armed with sewing machines and irons they put together ten x 10 metre strings of bunting that people and local groups will be able to hire for community events. Check out their work on the Gladrags instagram.
The strings of bunting are all different, coordinated by colour and pattern - from traditional red, white and blue to vintage and tie-dye styles. The event was the first time many of the volunteers had been out so by having the space to themselves they were able to offer a safe socially-distanced environment. The Bevy and volunteers made a selection of savoury snacks and cakes to keep the volunteers fed and watered.
