The Bevy might be shut but there are still things going on behind those closed doors. Apart from delivering over a thousand meals on wheels, we are also busy refurbishing the pub. We listened to our customers, carried out door knocking and handed out questionaires to see what people wanted.
We intend that the bar side will have more of a pub feel with more pictures and less noticeboards while the cafe area will be lighter. So far we have had a big clear out of rubbish including saying goodbye to our tired old sofas, bar stools and 56 café chairs and been busy giving the place a good scrub. We’ve chosen the new lighting and decided on the new colour schemes.
We are having some new lighting installed with softer lights to create a more relaxing atmosphere and so stop blinding everyone. We will move the existing TV from the bar to the café and buy a new TV for the bar area. The TV will be covered by a picture when not in use.
The café counter will be removed and the coffee machine put in the main bar so you can all stop getting frustrated when you are waiting impatiently for a drink. We will have a smaller counter for tea urn to use for Friday Friends and other groups that use the cafe space.
We will be putting in an extra dartboard on the wall, near where the existing one is at present and remove the one by the door to the smoking area. A practice board will be put in the corner and all 3 dartboards will be covered when not in use. We still can’t decide where to put the darts trophy cabinet. If it were just for the men’s team, we wouldn’t have to worry about its size.
The smoking area will be brightened up and we are busy sanding down the outside tables and benches, while the garden wall will be pressure washed and repainted. Thanks to lots of hard graft from Dave and Jonathan the garden is looking amazing, It’s such a shame people can’t enjoy it in our pub garden – although the plants are enjoying not being hit by footballs.
We are also working on a plan to re-open when we feel it is safe and right to do so.
Cheers
The Bevy Team
